The family of the late Gardner Newman presented Kristen Carter with the annual Gardner Newman Leadership Award during Honor’s Day at Gardner Newman Middle School. She was selected by the sixth grade teachers in recognition of her citizenship and leadership skills. Newman won a leadership award as a sixth grader at Hill Street School 82 years ago, in 1933.
