Chamber to host candidate forums

LaGRANGE — The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce, Troup County Republican Party and Troup County Democratic Party announced Wednesday they will host three candidate forums for upcoming municipal elections in Hogansville, West Point and LaGrange in an effort to inform local voters prior to the November elections.

The first forum is set for Thursday at the Hogansville Senior Center, 407 Church St. in Hogansville, and feature candidates for Hogansville City Council. All candidates have been invited to attend. The forum will be moderated by Jim Thornton, mayor of LaGrange.

Thornton will also moderate a forum on Monday at the New Horizon Community Theatre, 411 W. 8th St. in West Point, with West Point Mayor Drew Ferguson and challenger Deedee Williams.

The third forum will feature the candidates for LaGrange City Council; all candidates have been invited to participate. It will be held in the McLellan Parlor of Del’avant, 141 Main St. in LaGrange. Hogansville Mayor Bill Stankiewicz will be the moderator.

All sessions are set to begin at 6 p.m.

The general public is invited to attend and participate.
