A homeowner told police she woke up around 3 a.m. Friday to find a prowler inside her home in the 200 block of Peachtree Street, then realized the alleged burglar was someone she knew.

The woman told LaGrange officers she was awakened by loud banging at her front door. She said when she went to investigate, the front door opened and the suspect came into the house and headed for a back bedroom, according to police.

The homeowner stated that is when she recognized the suspect as a former roommate. She told officers when she called out to the alleged burglar by name, the person fled the home.

According to the woman, three pairs of Air Jordan shoes, valued at $120 apiece, that were in the back bedroom are now missing.

The homeowner told officers she and her former roommate have been fighting lately over property and money.

The case was turned over to the police department’s Criminal Investigation Section for further review.

Student arrested

A 15-year-old student found himself in big trouble at school after he allegedly was caught smoking marijuana inside a restroom at Troup High School on Thursday.

The school resource officer took the teen into custody and charged him with possession of marijuana.
