LaGRANGE — One man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman Friday just after 12:15 p.m. outside a home in the first block of Curran Avenue.

Police said when they arrived, they heard arguing inside the residence and saw a man run from the back of the home. Officers quickly detained him.

According to the female victim, the man, identified as Ted Walter Welborn, 48, whose address was unavailable, snatched her purse from her and grabbed her Paypal card.

The woman told officers she tried to go outside, but Welborn ran after her and jumped her from behind, causing her to hit the ground.

The victim stated Welborn then tried to reach into her bra area to get her cash.

Officers said they found both the Paypal card and money on Welborn when they searched him.

He was taken to the Troup County Jail and charged with strong-arm robbery and aggravated assault, both felonies.
