A LaGrange police officer on patrol discovered a stolen U-Haul truck parked on a dirt path between Bell and Cedar streets about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When he approached the truck, he noticed the cargo door was open and there were no items inside, a police report states. The cab of the truck was also locked.

Police learned the truck was stolen from All Self Storage at 101 Lukken Industrial Drive about 12:05 a.m. Sunday.

The owner of the business told officers the theft was captured by surveillance cameras. The estimated value of the truck was $50,000.

Police are investigating.

Bicycles stolen from library

A concerned parent called LaGrange police after learning her son’s bicycle was stolen while he was inside the LaGrange Memorial Library at 115 Alford St. about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The child told police there were two other youths hanging around outside when he went into the building. When he came outside a little while later, the youths and his bike were gone.

While the mother and son were speaking with officers, another child approached them and said his bicycle was taken as well.

The bicycles were each valued at $100.
