TCSO: Woman allegedly molested young children

One woman remains in jail on Friday for reportedly having inappropriate contact with children under the age of 10 years old.

Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Jamie Nelson, 26, of LaGrange, on Thursday.

SVU investigators reportedly discovered evidence that Nelson was also participating in immoral acts and transmitting lewd photos of children to others, stated TCSO officials.

She was charged with child molestation, child pornography, exploitation and sexual battery of a child, investigators stated.

Other agencies are assisting the sheriff’s office and helping the young victims in the case, officials said.

Additional arrests in the case are possible, SVU investigators added.

Nelson is currently in the Troup County Jail without bond.

Shots fired in apartment complex

A woman called 911 after hearing several gunshots fired near the property of the Valley Ridge apartments on Mooty Bridge Road about 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The woman told LaGrange Police she also caught a glimpse of a man running from the scene, plus a blue Jeep Wrangler and another car leaving the apartment complex at the same time, the report stated.

Officers recovered one Winchester 9mm shell casing near the area, according to the report.

Police are investigating.

Stolen gun

A pizza delivery driver reported someone stole his .45 caliber handgun from his car while he was delivering food in the 200 block of South Page Street about 10 p.m. on Monday.

The man told police he did not notice the weapon was missing until Wednesday, the report stated.

The driver claimed that delivery was the only time he was away from his car, according to the police report.

The gun was worth an estimated $600.

Store theft

The manager of the Summit gas station at 320 Commerce Ave. reported one of her employees was allegedly caught stealing money from a safe.

The clerk was allegedly seen on the store’s surveillance system rigging the safe to give her a set amount of cash, the report stated. The money inside the safe is used to make change with larger bills inside the registers.

The video reportedly showed the employee taking $100 from the safe and putting it in her pocket, according to the police report.

The store manager and police officer confronted the employee about the video and missing money. The clerk denied stealing any cash from the store, the report stated.

Police are investigating.

LHS fight

Three students were cited by police for fighting in the LaGrange High School cafeteria about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

A school resource officer observed the three girls punching, kicking and pulling each other’s hair in the corner of the lunchroom, stated the police report.

The students allegedly told school administrators and officers the fight started over some derogatory remarks, according to the report.

The girls were cited by the LaGrange Police Department for affray.
