Man assaults pregnant ex-girlfriend

A woman told LaGrange police her ex-boyfriend allegedly tried to choke her in a wooded area in the first block of North Cary Street about 7:45 p.m. on Monday.

The victim said the man attacked her as soon as she pulled up in front of her apartment complex, the report stated.

The ex-boyfriend allegedly struck the woman several times in the head and then pinned her up against a car and choked her, according to the report.

The victim told police she attempted to get away, but her ex-boyfriend grabbed her and threw her on the ground.

She tried to spray him with Mace, but got some of the chemical in her eyes too, the report stated.

The woman told officers she is also 13 weeks pregnant, according to the report.

The victim managed to hit the key fob on her car which set off an alarm and notified neighbors, the report read. One neighbor called E-911 for help.

Police are investigating.

Burglary

  • Three roommates discovered someone broke into their home in the 100 block of Lafayette Court and stole numerous items.

One victim told LaGrange police the burglary occurred sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Sunday and 1:30 a.m. on Monday, the report stated.

The roommates stated a 46-inch Phillips LED TV, a 32-inch LG LED TV, a Microsoft XBOX, a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a gold watch and gold necklace, plus $500 in cash was stolen from the home, according to the report.

The value of the items taken was estimated around $1,700.

The victims told officers their rear door was locked, but a pane of glass was removed and never replaced. LaGrange police believe the suspect(s) were able to stick their arm through the opening and unlock the door from the inside, the report stated.

  • A man reported his home in the 600 block of South Greenwood Street was broken into about 11:45 p.m. on Monday.

The man claimed the perpetrator(s) stole a Panasonic 60-inch flat screen TV, a LaGrange Police report stated.

The TV was worth an estimated $900.

Theft

A landlord told LaGrange police one of her tenants allegedly damaged her apartment in the 300 block of Springdale Drive and stole a kitchen appliance.

The tenant was reportedly evicted for non payment of rent, the report stated.

The landlord told officers when she arrived at the apartment, she discovered four broken windows and glass missing from the front door. The refrigerator was also gone, according to the police report.

The kitchen appliance was worth $450.

Police are investigating.
