3 people charged in theft; police chase

Investigators with the LaGrange Police Department arrested three people for their alleged roles in a shoplifting case and police chase Monday afternoon.

Zachary Wilson, 22, Joshua Riser, 25 and Crystal Deloach, 31, were taken into custody by investigators Monday night.

At least two of the three suspects were allegedly caught shoplifting items from the Home Depot store at 1500 Lafayette Parkway.

When LaGrange police officers approached the suspects’ vehicle, they jumped in the car and fled the scene at a high rate of speed, according to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.

LPD officers reportedly lost sight of the vehicle.

TCSO deputies spotted the car a brief time later and stopped it on Greenville Road, said Sgt. Stewart Smith.

Deloach and another woman inside the vehicle admitted Wilson and Riser got out of the car somewhere along the road, Smith stated.

Both men were located and taken into custody.

Wilson was charged with possession of methamphetamine, theft by shoplifting, felony fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to obey a traffic control device, improper passing, failure to signal, headlights required and driving while license is suspended, according to Sgt. Robert Kirby with the LaGrange Police Department.

Risher was charged with felony theft by deception.

Deloach was charged with identify fraud.

She was found to have several Alabama driver’s licenses in her possession, according to a police report. None of licenses’ belonged to Deloach.

The other woman found inside the car with Deloach was not charged in either incident, Kirby added.

Thefts

A woman told LaGrange Police her watch was missing from her home in the 100 block of Colonial Street.

The Michael Kors watch was valued at $225.

* A woman told police officers her Ion Bluetooth speaker was taken out of a classroom inside the Boys and Girls Club of West Georgia at 115 E. Cannon Street.

The woman told LaGrange police she left the speaker on a shelf inside the room. The item disappeared sometime between 2 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., according to police reports.

The speaker was valued at $175.
