Weekend of live music and outdoor fun

LaGRANGE – Live music and outdoor activities are the focus this weekend with fun events of many interests available in the community.

The City of Hogansville will host Market Day Under the Lights on Saturday at 5 p.m.  The event will feature local artisans, live music, craft beer and good food.

Hogansville hopes to hold Market Days on the second Saturday of every month during the summer and hopes that the evening market will be a fun event for the entire community.

Bow Wow adoption event

Coldwell Banker’s Pet Adoption event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at 1111 Mooty Bridge Road. The community is invited to come and adopt a pet from the LaGrange-Troup County Humane Society or Heard County Humane Society at the event.

Vendors will be on site to help new pet owners find everything they need for their pets, and donations to local humane societies will also be accepted at the event.

LaGrange High Alumni Field Day

LaGrange High School graduates from 1989 to 1999 will host an adult field day on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Granger Park. Events are expected to include tug of war, a sack race, musical chairs, a football throw and more.

J. Edwards at Pure Life Studios

J. Edwards Music with special guest Cricket Edwards will be performing at Pure Life Studios, located at 206 Clark St. on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Edwards plays country-rock and blues, and his most recent project titled “Heroes” honors veterans, active military and their families. Vince Gill at Amphitheater

Vince Gill will perform at the Sweetland Amphitheatre on Friday night in LaGrange. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the concert starts at 8 p.m. Gill was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007 and was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012.

Gill has won 20 Grammy Awards, and the Academy of Country Music has honored him with eight awards. Gill has won 17 Country Music Association Honors including Song of the Year four times. He is known for his break out hit “When I call your name.”

Tickets are sold out, but some may be available on secondary marketplaces.
