Nexair held its ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning. The company acquired Moore Oxygen Supply’s business on New Airport Road.

Company Vice President Mike Devine said Nexair has other branches in Atlanta and Opelika and had wanted to buy the business in LaGrange to add to its company.

“We had this area surrounded, and we wanted a distribution point in LaGrange,” Devine said. “When the opportunity came to buy these guys, that’s where we made the purchase.”

The company manufactures atmospheric gases for other businesses, Devine said.

“We do anything that involves atmospheric gas,” he said. “Helium is used whether it’s in car dealers using balloons, to hydrogen going into the space shuttle, to oxygen being used at the hospital or nitrous oxide at your local dentist.”

The company kept all 12 of Moore Oxygen’s employees when it was sold to Nexair. Employee Jeremy Dodd it has been a good experience transitioning to Nexair so far.

“It was a pretty good transition, it gave us all a little more to look forward to as far as progression,” Dodd said.

Devine said the company is looking forward to continuing the location’s growth.

“We’ve got a lot of opportunity in the LaGrange area. It seems to be a growing market. It’s got some really good people we acquired through Moore, so we’re expecting some good things out of this location,” he said.

LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce President Page Estes said the chamber is happy to have Nexair become another business in town.

“The business itself has been in Troup County and served our members after many years, but now to be under the Nexair umbrella and to bring the quality national reputation to this area and to their clients, we know they’re going to enjoy much success,” Estes said.

Nexair is located at 266 New Airport Road and is open Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
