LaGrange woman dies in single car accident

A LaGrange woman died after the vehicle she was driving left the roadway and hit a tree on Mountville-Hogansville Road last Thursday at 7:15 a.m.

According to the accident report from Georgia State Patrol, Deborah Lee Tidwell, 64, was negotiating a sharp downhill curve when she ran off the roadway right, crossed the center line, ran off the roadway left and then collided with a tree.

The report said Tidwell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and the airbag was deployed. According to the report, she was not ejected.

Law enforcement did not suspect that Tidwell had any alcohol or drugs in her system at the time nor was her vision obscured, according to the report.
