COLUMBUS — Commercial Bank and Trust began transitioning to the Synovus brand name on Monday.

Signage and other legacy branding at Commercial Bank and Trust’s branches in LaGrange, Troup County will be updated with Synovus branding by Jan. 19. Commercial Bank and Trust is among the first of Synovus’ 26 non-Synovus branded bank divisions to complete the footprint-wide brand transition, which will conclude in June 2018.

“This bank has been community-based and customer-focused since its founding in 1941 and that won’t change,” said W. Frank McRae, Jr., Synovus market executive for LaGrange, Troup County. “Adopting the Synovus name while maintaining our local, relationship-centered delivery model will increase awareness of our regional presence, our financial capabilities and our ability to meet the needs of customers and prospects.

Acquired by Synovus (then known as CB&T Bancshares) in Jan. 1977, Commercial Bank and Trust of Troup County was the first of more than 60 acquisitions over the next three decades that would become Georgia’s second largest bank, with $32 billion in assets and a presence in five Southeastern states. Synovus operates three retail branches at 200 North Greenwood Street, 1514 Vernon Road, and 1496 Lafayette Parkway.
