Dependable Affordable Sustainable Housing (DASH) for LaGrange, Inc. received a $5,000 grant from the Milliken Foundation in support of the 2018 Hillside Arts, Music and Food Festival.

The spring festival will be held April 14 in LaGrange’s historic Hillside Neighborhood and will allow DASH to continue to mobilize the strengths of the local area and encourage a greater sense of community.

As a supporter of the 2018 Hillside Arts, Music and Food Festival, Milliken advances a legacy of engagement within each of the communities the global textile, specialty chemical and floor covering manufacturer calls home.

“Our hope is that, through the generosity of the Milliken Foundation, we impact our hometown in meaningful ways,” said Glenda Kary, human resources manager for Milliken Pine Mountain and Valway Plants. “We know that our success and the success of our community go hand-in-hand. When the Milliken Foundation approached our LaGrange facilities to designate a grant recipient, we immediately selected DASH for LaGrange as an important community transformation initiative.”

Elia Baltes, community development director, said DASH is grateful for community partners like Milliken and the Milliken Foundation who are crucial to team work to strengthen the well-being of people in our communities.

The DASH mission is to be a catalyst for community revitalization that transforms the lives of families and individuals by providing opportunities that focus on dependable, affordable, sustainable housing and active community leadership.

The Hillside Festival, now in its fourth year, continues to be led by residents of the community that are passionate about locally created art, food and music. Last year’s event featured live music acts, more than 25 vendors and some of the area’s best restaurants.
