The LaGrange Lady Grangers spotted Alexander three early runs, and they were unable to rally from that deficit on Thursday in a Region 5-AAAA softball game.
Alexander put the three spot on the board in the top of the first inning on the way to a 4-2 victory.
LaGrange rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but that wasn’t enough to avoid the loss.
LaGrange fell to 1-4 overall, and 1-2 in region play.
LaGrange got things started in the sixth when Taylor Storey reached on an error, and Karsin Spinks followed with a base hit.
After a Te’a Winston bunt, Destiny Gay came through with a base hit to drive in two runs.
LaGrange left the tying run on base, though, and Alexander escaped the inning with a one-run lead.
Alexander added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning, and LaGrange couldn’t answer in the bottom of the inning.
LaGrange will take a few days off before returning to the field on Wednesday for a home game against Hardaway.
Also on Thursday, the Troup High softball team was looking to win its second straight game, but it was unable to knock off a strong Carrollton team.
Carrollton won 12-6 in the Region 5-AAAA contest.
The Lady Tigers fell to 1-2 overall, and all three games have been against region foes.
