VALLEY, Ala. — A Valley man has been charged with capital murder for allegedly shooting and killing a man Saturday evening.

A Valley Police Department press release says that officers responded to the intersection of Richmond Street and Cusseta Road at about 6 p.m. Saturday in reference to a one-vehicle accident.

Officers arrived to find that the driver of the vehicle, Acquera Monquail Story, 26, of Valley, had been shot twice and was unresponsive. Story was transported to George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in Story’s vehicle said they had just turned east onto Huguley Road when the passenger of a white car travelling west on Huguley Road shot into the car at them with a rifle-type weapon. The witness identified the shooter as Jeriko Martez Harris, 30, of Valley.

Harris turned himself in six hours later at the VPD. Police still were investigating this morning and said no motive had been determined.

Harris was being held at the Chambers County, Ala., Detention Facility.

Story’s body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Montgomery pending an autopsy.
