Man remains unidentified in Sunday fatality

Troopers are investigating a Meriwether County fatality crash that happened early Sunday morning.

According to Georgia State Patrol Sgt. Maurice Raines, the crash happened at about 6 a.m. Sunday morning on Highway 109 at Keith Road. Raines said investigations has lead troopers to believe that the unidentified male fell asleep behind the wheel, causing him to crash into a tractor trailer.

The male killed in the crash has yet to be identified and has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Atlanta for an autopsy .

The crash left traffic backed up until about 2:30 p.m, said Raines.

No further information was given as of press time Wednesday morning.
