Corps reopens closed lake facilities

With the government shutdown over, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reopened its closed facilities around West Point Lake today.

“As anticipated we received the green light to open West Point Project this morning from our district office,” said David Barr, chief ranger.

All West Point Project federal workers have been notified to return to work today.

The West Point Project Visitor Center opened this morning at 9 a.m. Sales of hunting permits, annual passes and shelter reservations have resumed.

The West Point Powerhouse Visitor Center has reopened this morning at 9 a.m.

Day use parks are in the process of being opened. Everything will be opened by the weekend.

Corps-operated campgrounds will open at 3 p.m. today.
