Volunteers pack more than 35,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now

November 11, 2013

More than 250 LaGrange College student, faculty and staff volunteers gathered at First United Methodist Church of LaGrange on Saturday morning to pack 35,214 meals for the Stop Hunger Now food packaging event. The group made the meals in an hour and a half. Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief agency.

Rex Wallace, 6, son of LaGrange College men’s basketball coach Kendal Wallace, carries food to be packaged at Saturady’s Stop Hunger Now volunteer event. The meals combine rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix, including 21 vitamins and minerals, into small meal packets to be distributed globally.

Kirk Slay, left, and Alex Blount hand boxes of food up to be packed for the Stop Hunger Now event. The food packaged will be shipped across the world.
