The Medicine Cabinet held a ribbon cutting of its new location on Vernon Street Friday.
This is the second Medicine Cabinet store that has been opened, the first store opened is located on Mooty Bridge Road.
The new store offers the experience of an old fashioned pharmacy, with friendly customer service as well as a soda fountain located inside the store where customers can indulged on a root beer float or a milkshake.
Randy Meeks, one of the general managers for the Medicine Cabinet, is excited for the opportunity to expand the brand after such a short time in the business.
“We got into the business after I retired from Milliken in 2009,” Meeks said.
“We bought our first store with my brother, who’s a (business) partner and my son who was in pharmacy school. We bought that store in Palmetta, Ga. we’ve had it for three years. When Corley was bought out by CVS we thought it was a good opportunity to replace that hometown independent drugstore environment.”
Meeks says that he wants to build one-on-one relationships with his customers that will keep them coming back after receiving such friendly service.
“We focus on customer service. That’s our primary focus,” Meeks said.
“We try to make sure that our customers are taken care of from the time they walk into the door until the time that they leave.”
Meeks also claims that he would like to see his business expand within the next few years.
“Our master plan calls for us to start up one new store a year,” Meeks said.
“My brother has six stores in south Georgia. This one makes the ninth store, so what we would like to do is, within a 50 mile radius of LaGrange, we’re always looking for stores to buy. We’re always looking for a situation where we think it’s a good opportunity to come in.”
