The Troup High basketball teams will look to put some wins on the board this weekend.

Both Troup teams are participating in the Meriwether County Holiday Classic that will be held at Greenville High and Manchester High.

Both teams will be in action today at Greenville High.

The Troup girls will take on Greenville at 4 p.m., and the Troup boys will face Taylor County at 5:30 p.m.

When Troup’s teams play on Saturday will be determined by how they do in today’s games.

The tournament runs through Monday.

Both Troup squads enter the tournament looking to get some positive momentum heading into the new year.

The Lady Tigers (1-5) have lost five straight games since a season-opening win over Harris County.

The Tigers (3-3), meanwhile, have dropped back-to-back games after winning three in a row.

After the tournament, Troup’s teams will be off until Jan. 7 when they host Sandy Creek in Region 5-AAAA play.

Callaway’s teams, meanwhile, are not playing in a holiday tournament.

The Cavaliers and Lady Cavaliers both played their final games of 2013 on Saturday at Lanett.

The Cavaliers are 4-2, while the Lady Cavaliers are 3-3.

Callaway’s teams will host Rockmart on Jan. 3 in their Region 4-AAA openers.
