GREENVILLE - The Troup Lady Tigers got off to a slow start on Friday, and they were unable to recover in an opening-round game in a tournament in Meriwether County.

Greenville, playing on its home floor, charged out to a 22-5 lead after the opening quarter, and it didn’t look back on the way to a 74-44 victory.

Keasha Dozier scored 11 points in the first quarter for Greenville, and she went on to lead all scorers with 24 points.

Kiyanna Johnson, who finished with 19 points, had 10 points in the second period as Greenville soared to a 39-14 lead at the half.

By the close of the third period, Greenville was ahead 55-24, and it maintained its 30-point cushion in the fourth period.

Freshman Kwyneishia Spence led Troup with 14 points, with eight of those points coming in the fourth quarter.

Gabby Lockhart added nine points for Troup.

Troup (1-6), which has dropped six straight games since a season-opening win over Harris County, will look to get on track when it faces Macon County at 1 p.m. today at Manchester High.
