It looks like Abby Child is intent on making the most of her senior season.

Child, a LaGrange Academy graduate, is in her fourth and final season on the Anderson University (S.C.) softball team.

She has had three stellar seasons, and she is off to a blazing start this year.

Child’s sister, sophomore Molly Child, is also off to a fast start in her second season on the Anderson softball team.

Abby Child has been on a torrid pace through the first six games, all Anderson wins.

Child has 11 hits in 18 at-bats, good for a team-best .611 batting average among the starters.

Child leads the team in hits, home runs (two), RBIs (12), doubles (three), slugging percentage (1.111) and on-base percentage (.636).

Child began her season by going 3-for-3 with a home run and a double in an 8-0 victory over Lees-McRae, and she hasn’t slowed down since.

Molly Child has been getting it done as well.

Child is hitting .421, and she has a team-high 10 runs scored, and she has driven in seven runs.

Molly Child is also tied with Abby Child for the team lead with two home runs.

Abby Child stepped into the starting lineup as a freshman in 2011, and she started every game and led the team with nine home runs and was second with 29 RBIs.

In 2012, Child led the South Atlantic Conference with 61 RBIs, and she was second in the conference with 14 home runs.

Child had another exceptional season in 2013 with nine home runs and 45 RBIs.

Child came into the season second in school history with 118 runs scored, and 32 home runs.

Molly Child, meanwhile, started every game for Anderson as a freshman, and she hit .335 with eight home runs and 44 RBIs.

Abby Child and Molly Child were both players of the year while in high school, and they both led LaGrange Academy to state championships.
