The Wheelabrator Group celebrated 1,000,000 hours without a loss time incident — equivalent to almost four years — with a luncheon held at the facility Thursday afternoon.

Representatives from Wheelabrator, Norican Group, Georgia State Board and the Department of Labor were in attendance and each congratulated and thanked Wheelabrator for its commitment to safety.

Mayor Jim Thornton was also in attendance as was a representative on behalf of Georgia Congressman Lynn Westmoreland.

A plaque was awarded to the group and employees received individual plaques as well.

Angelyn Gill, Health Safety and Environmental Coordinator for Wheelabrator Group, said she attributes this success to the longevity of employees and the group’s commitment to safety training.
