The LaGrange High golf team defended its home course on Saturday in winning fashion.
In the Granger Invitational that was held at Highland Country Club, LaGrange posted a team score of 322 to capture the top spot.
Smiths Station was second, followed by Harris County and Troup.
LaGrange’s top four players finished within four strokes of one another, including P.T. Alford, who was the low-medalist with a 79.
Next for LaGrange was Devin Bray, who shot a 79.
Justin Gordon carded an 81, and Lee Thornton posted an 82.
FORMER GRANGER SHINES: Charlie Martin, a LaGrange High graduate, helped the Georgia Southern Eagles capture a big victory on Sunday.
Martin and the Eagles took top honors in the Schenkel Invitational, which included four teams ranked in the top 20 in the country.
It was the first time the Eagles won the tournament, which they host in Statesboro.
Martin had three terrific rounds to finish tied for sixth, giving him two straight high finishes.
Martin was coming off a fifth-place showing in the Samford Invitational earlier in March.
In the Schenkel Invitational, Martin was one of four players who finished in the top 10.
Martin opened with a 74, and after firing a 68 in the second round, he closed with a 72 on Sunday.
Georgia Southern’s Scott Wolfes was the low-medalist with a 7-under total, and Martin finished five strokes back.
