Man arrested on aggravated assault and false imprisonment charge

Anthony Render, 41, of LaGrange was arrested Friday after police issued a warrant for the alleged aggravated assault and false imprisonment of his wife, Sonya Potts, March 22.


Render was arrested at his home in the 1400 block of Park Avenue after police received a call that he was at home asleep.


On the March 22, Potts called 911 and stated that Render was going to kill her according to the initial report. When police showed up to the home, they tried making contact with Potts but received no answer.


At a later time, police met Potts at The Goodwill in the 100 block of Commerce Avenue where she reported that she was inside the house when police arrived but could not answer due to Render holding her against her will with a knife.


According to the report, Potts said that Render allegedly threatened to kill her if she made a noise.


Potts said earlier, she and Render got into an argument that led to him allegedly assaulting her.


Afterwards, Render dropped her off at work, where she made contact with police.


Police could not locate Render at the time and issued a warrant for aggravated assault and false imprisonment. They posted his photo on Facebook to asking for the public’s help finding him.
