Online campaign, golf tournament to benefit Eric Bennett
Friends of Eric Bennett, who suffered traumatic brain injuries, are raising money to help with his medical expenses. Online donations may be made at the GoFundMe site under “Eric Bennett Recovery (Go Dawgs)” at address www.gofundme.com/7mwscw . The goal of the fund-raising site is $10,000.
On June 20, a four-man scramble golf tournament will be held at Orchard Hills Golf Club in Newnan. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The cost for the event is $75 per person or $300 per team. Hole sponsorships and banner sales will also be available. Those interested in the tournament may pre-register by emailing Adam Griffith at email@example.com.
Online contest, funding to benefit Erica Bennett
Online efforts are underway to secure a wheelchair-accessible van for 6-year-old Erica Bennett. She is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, piriventricular leukomalacia, cortical blindness, failure to thrive, scoliosis, asthma, congenital hydrocephalus, esophageal reflux, microcephalus, muscle spasms and has febrile seizures. A contest at mobilityawarenessmonth.com is underway until May 9 where the top three vote-getters win a wheelchair-accessible van. Voters can go to www.mobilityawarenessmonth.com/entrant/donna-crowder-lagrange-ga/ , or go to the main site, click on Local Heroes and search for Donna Crowder to vote for Erica. Voters can also receive an additional vote by answering a trivia question correctly.

Troup County Relay for Life
The 2014 Relay for Life is set for 7 p.m. April 25 at the Whitesville Road track, 299 Fort Drive. Teams may register to participate with a $10 fee and raise funds to contribute. Chick-fil-A locations on Lafayette Parkway and Commerce Avenue host Spirit Night from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Anyone who mentions Relay for Life during Spirit Night events at the following locations will have a portion of their sale donated to Relay for Life.
Relay for Life team hosts ‘chicken-q’
Troup County EMS will be having a “chicken-q” fundraiser for its Relay for Life team on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its headquarters at 1659 W. Lukken Industrial Drive. Fraternity alumni host fundraiser for scholarships
LaGrange Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity hosts a “chicken-q” fundraiser for its scholarship program from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the old Family Dentistry parking lot. Kroger sales to benefit American Cancer Society
Kroger and the American Cancer Society (ACS) are partnering for an in-store fundraiser until April 26 to raise awareness and funds to help fight cancer. During the two-week campaign, Kroger will urge its customers to donate to the ACS by purchasing $1 Relay For Life “footprint” icons at Kroger checkouts to help the Atlanta Division reach its goal of raising $200,000.
Art N’ Bloom to benefit art museum
The LaGrange Art Museum again hosts Art N’ Bloom, a benefit luncheon that combines fresh floral arrangements and the fine art that inspired the arrangements. This year’s event, a floral interpretation of the museum’s permanent collection and luncheon, will take place at Bisham Manor on May Day, May 1, at 11 a.m. Luncheon tickets are $50 each; tables of eight or 10 may be reserved by calling the art museum at 112 Lafayette Parkway, 706-882-3267. March of Dimes’ March for Babies
On May 3 at Hollis Hand Elementary School, numerous families and business leaders will join together in the March of Dimes’ annual March for Babies, the nation’s oldest walk fundraiser honoring babies born healthy and those who need help to survive and thrive.
