LaGrange Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit assisted with the United States Marshall’s Office and New York Police Department detectives in the arrest of three LaGrange residents today for the alleged illegal transport and sale of firearms in the city of New York.

Aliya Dowell, 32; Michael Brewer Quick, 33; and Rodney Brewer, 49, all were arrested.

Prior to this date, Quick was arrested in DeKalb County for his alleged involvement in a shooting in that area. Dowell was tracked from LaGrange to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she was arrested this morning. Brewer was arrested in the 700 block of Daniel Street this morning by officials with the LPD, NYPD and U.S. Marshall’s Office.

During the past eight months, the SIU have assisted NYPD detectives in an ongoing investigation.

Indictments were obtained from the State of New York for Dowell, Quick and Brewer for the offenses of criminal sale of firearms in the first degree and conspiracy in the fourth degree. A fourth suspect remains unnamed at this time, but is also from LaGrange, according to a press release. The fourth suspect has yet to be arrested.

All four face criminal charges in New York.

The suspects allegedly trafficked stolen and other illegally obtained firearms from Georgia to New York and sold on the black market.
