The Trifecta is pulling out all the stops for the Friday Night Lights event in Lafayette Square.
Girl Power and Emerging Women, along with the Wesley Woodyard’s 16 Ways and the Elijah Kelley foundation, announced actress Tika Sumpter, star of Tyler Perry’s hit TV show “The Haves and the Have Nots,” will emcee the event this Friday.
Friday Night Lights is aimed at area youth. The festival will not only have food, games and entertainment, but showcase a variety of services and clubs in the community for children and teens to join, like GPEW, 16 Ways and the Elijah Kelley Foundations. The event is hosted by Girl Power and Emerging Women, the Wesley Woodyard 16 Ways Foundation and the Elijah Kelley Foundation, also known as the Trifecta.
Denise Mosley, executive director and co-founder of GPEW said the event will have a little something for everyone. There will be music, performances by a local marching band and teen dance groups, along with a D.J. In addition to games and giveaways, there will be tables set up around the square promoting a variety of schools, youth programs and services aimed at helping area children find a positive outlet for their unique skill sets and abilities.
Mosley said the program is a chance for all three organizations to come together as a united front for youths locally and globally.
GPEW also announced in case of rain, the Friday Night Lights event will be held inside the Broad Street Church of Christ gymnasium at 408 Broad St. The festival will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It’s free and open to the public.
