The Lafayette Christian School Cougars met their match.
Taking on a Holy Ground team that won the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama championship a year ago, the Cougars ended up the short end of a 48-14 score.
“We didn’t come out particularly sharp,” Lafayette Christian head coach Nick Nehring said.
Holy Ground built a 22-0 lead before Lafayette Christian got on the board with a scoring pass from Matt Brown to Eli Sheppard.
Holy Ground quickly regained momentum, though, and it rolled to the win.
Brown scored the Cougars’ final touchdown with a scoring run in the second half.
“It helped us know where we’re at and we’ll get better,” Nehring said.
Lafayette Christian will host Colonial Hills on Friday.
