Tickets are on sale for New Horizon Theatre’s production of Disney’s “My Son Pinocchio Jr.” on Sept. 4 to 6.
“This fun family shows has a few seats still available at www.nhct.org,” said Holly Wheeler, marketing and publicity chairman for New Horizon Community Theatre.
Accorindg to the NHCT website, the play is “the classic tale of toy maker Geppetto’s little wooden puppet … given new life. This new musical, which retells the classic Disney story from Geppetto’s perspective, features the beloved classic songs ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ and ‘I’ve Got No Strings,’ alongside a host of new songs by Oscar and Grammy Award-winner and master melodist Stephen Schwartz, tackling timely issues about what it means to be ‘the perfect child’ - and what it means to be ‘a real father.’”
Featuring an under-18 cast of local actors, the play is described as “a magical mix of heartwarming fairy tale and action-packed adventure.”
The theater also will be holding auditions for the next show, “12 Angry Men,” on Sept. 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. Casting is available for 13 men ages 21 and older. Show dates are Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.
The NHCT website summarizes the play about a “12-man jury (which) begins deliberations in the first-degree murder trial of an 18 year old accused in the stabbing death of his father, where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence. What begins as a open and shut case of murder soon becomes a mini-drama of each of the juror’s prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused and each other.”
