Sickle Cell Support Group seeks volunteers, donors for 5K
Sick of the Cycle Inc. Sickle Cell Support Group will host a 5K Road Walk in West Point on Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. The group is seeking individuals to participate in the walk and volunteers to help with the event. Saint Peter’s Catholic Church yard sale seeking items
Saint Peter’s Catholic Church hosts a yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 20 and is seeking items to sell. Anyone interested in donating items like furniture, linens, housewares and electronic devices may call 706-883-9588 to arrange pickup. The yard sale benefits Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Camp Viola, the clothing center, LaGrange Personal Aid, Missions of the Poor and Samaritan’s Purse.
CAFI seeks participants for fundraiser yard sale
Community Action for Improvement - CAFI - is seeking sellers for a fundraiser yard sale on Sept. 27 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parking lot at 1380 Lafayette Parkway. Participants may reserve a table and one parking spot for $35 or two tables and two parking spots for $50. Anyone interested may contact Dee Berry at 678-621-3355 or the CAFI office at 706-884-2651.
Center seeking donations for clothes, money
The Yolanda Jabaley Clothing Center is in need of children’s clothes and clothes for teenagers. Money donated to the center is used to buy new underwear and shoes. Hours of the center are 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, August through May. To donate items when the center isn’t open, call director Rose Meister at 706-302-0179 or Fern Bergeron at 706-885-9388. Monetary donations may be made to Bergeron, center president, at 114 Hawthorne Circle, LaGrange, GA 30240.
Saint Peter’s craft fair
The ladies of Saint Peter’s Council of Catholic Women are accepting applications for vendors interested in participating in the craft fair at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, 200 Lafayette Parkway in LaGrange. The indoor craft fair is Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors may include jams, scarves, embroidered items, wood items, stained glass and more. Care baskets for breast cancer patients
The Troup County breast cancer support group, Breast Friends for Life, is in need of new or gently used baskets. BFFL makes gift baskets for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. Baskets need to have a handle. No Christmas or Easter baskets. Baskets may be dropped off with Wanda Lowe at Enoch Callaway Cancer Center, 111 Medical Drive next to West Georgia Health.
