West Point’s newly elected city officials were sworn into office Monday evening during the city’s first council meeting of the year.
Councilman Joe Downs and Councilwoman Gloria Marshall, who both were re-elected to their seats in November, were joined by new councilman Steve Tramell as the three took their oath headed by Mayor Drew Ferguson.
The following city officers were also reappointed to their positions for 2014:
Municipal Court Judge Wesley Leonard
City Recorder Pro-Tem Kenneth Rearden
Prosecuting Attorney Julian Mack
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney- Jeffery Todd
City Attorney Jeffery Todd
Public Defender Mark Carlton
The new city council selected councilman Gerald Ledbetter to serve as mayor pro-tem.
In other matters, as the last of four agencies to give input on a decision to abolish the Troup County Airport Authority, the council voted to support of the City of LaGrange and Troup County to turn the airport authority into an advisory board. Hogansville had also voted to support the resolution last week.
