Wondering what happened to the annual Attic Sale usually hosted in October? For this year only, the Junior Service League pushed the sale to March due to its Pickin’ in the Park event. The sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Westbrook Tires on Bull Street.

Attic Sale Chair Denise Robinson said those looking forward to the event can expect the same great prices on almost new or gently used items.

The sale has thousands of items including electronics, furniture, household items, kitchenware, children’s clothing, toys, holiday items and more. Robinson said pricing ranges from fifty cents to $40, with electronics being the most expensive.

“There is probably a treasure amongst all of our things, there is a lot of variety and [shoppers] help support JSL which is going to help funnel the money back into our community,” Robinson said.

Donations have been collected since October 2012 from community members, local businesses and JSL members.

Robinson said the sale has been a staple of LaGrange for over 25 years and is one of the biggest events in the community usually bringing out large crowds with people lined up down the street waiting to get in.

“We feel like it’s a service for the community and we provide back for the community,” President Allison Arrington said.

Robinson said all the proceeds from the sale go back into the community through JSL’s events and community service. In the past, the organization has used money from Attic Sale for the Fourth of July parade, Camp Dogwood, Art Discovery, Children’s Symphony, Teen Maze and vision and hearing screening in schools.

Robinson said the sale in March is a one-time occurrence and JSL will return to hosting it in October, keeping with the tradition of Attic Sale. Pickin’ in the Park will be moved to another time to accommodate for Attic Sale.

Looking for dibs on a special item? Shoppers can come to the preview sale Friday March 7 and pay price-and-a-half for items plus five dollars admission. From 8-8:30 a.m. on Saturday, admission is $5, after that admission is $1. The sale accepts cash only.
