Troup County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested three people Wednesday, one on suspicion of burglary and two for alleged identity theft.

Joseph Davis, 28, was arrested on a charge of burglary in the first degree after a call-in tip from crimestoppers linked him to a case where he allegedly broke into a home in the 100 block of Woodard Avenue in August 2012.

According to TCSO officials, the victim reported a $10,000 loss from the burglary.

Davis has been booked into the Troup County Jail.

In an unrelated case, Jamal James, 23, and Issac Morrison, 24, both from Columbus were arrested for allegedly stealing the identity of a Troup County resident.

James and Morrison are facing charges of identity fraud and theft after they allegedly tried to recover merchandise they had ordered using the victim’s identity.

Officials say they suspect James and Morrison are responsible for thousands of dollars in this scheme.

Both are currently in the Troup County Jail and additional charges are pending according to TCSO reports.
