An infant was life-flighted to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta on Saturday for a possible skull fracture following an accident in the child’s home, officials said.

The child, a little over 1 year old, was in critical condition and in intensive care Sunday.

LaGrange police responded to the 100 block of Houston Street on Saturday to investigate the accident. According to police, the child was playing in a room with several other children when an old-style CRT television fell on top of the child.

Police Sgt. Marshall McCoy said the incident is an example of the safety hazards posed by older, heavier TVs. McCoy said others should take measures to secure large television sets, especially with children around, as it is easy for them to cause injury and death.
