Hundreds of people from the community showed their support early Saturday morning for four-year-old Oaklie Humphries at the Granger Park Tennis Courts. The group participated in the Strong As An Oak Fun Run and Sprout Sprint, raising money for the family and awareness about childhood cancers.

Lindsay Summerlin, co-organizer of the event, said close to 300 people came out to support Oaklie. The group raised more than $15,600 dollars through race registrations, sponsors, donations, car decals, and t-shirts. All the money goes directly into Oaklie’s medical account at Charter Bank to help pay for her treatments and travel expenses to and from Atlanta.

Summerlin said people can still purchase t-shirts. Visit their Facebook page at Strong As An Oak 5k and Fun Run.
