The LaGrange Fire Department raised $1,577.30 from this year’s Give Burns the Boot Drive which was hosted Thursday through Sunday outside of Walmart and Kroger. The drive benefits the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation to support prevention, education, medical facilities and burn survivors.

Lt. Chris Taylor with the LFD said despite the cold weather creating a challenging weekend, he is still pleased with how much was donated.

Taylor added that the drive isn’t just to raise money for burn victims, but also to raise awareness for education and fire prevention, which he said are the two most important goals of the foundation.

Last year, the LFD raised around $1,800, just a little over this year’s donations.
