Updated 3:50 p.m.: One person was flown to Columbus Medical Center after a wreck at Hamilton and South Davis roads involving two vehicles and a school bus about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. LaGrange police said a preliminary investigation indicates a green Toyota 4Runner traveling on Hamilton Road ran a red light at South Davis Road. The SUV collided with a southbound Troup County school bus on South Davis Road, and then hit a GMC Sonoma pickup truck that was facing north in the South Davis Road turn lane. The bus left the road and hit an embankment, but no one on the bus was injured. The driver of the SUV was taken by helicopter to Columbus Medical Center, 911 officials said. One child and two adults were on the school bus, which was traveling from one elementary school to others to pick up students to drop off at home. Another bus was sent to pick up the route and the wrecked bus's occupants, which may cause some delay in dropoff this evening, said Jeff Turner, Troup County Schools transportation director. He said the child's parents would be notified of the incident. LaGrange police were investigating the crash and providing traffic control. Further information was expected to be released this evening.
