In observance of the 50th anniversary of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Theta Nu Lambda chapter will present an informative workshop on teen pregnancy at the Alpha Multipurpose Center, 200 Dawson St. in LaGrange, on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Two speakers will address teen attendees: Zsa Zsa Heard, new LaGrange Housing Authority director and president of the LaGrange Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, and Robin Blount, an attorney from Atlanta.
There also will be group sessions on different topics, including school counseling and teen pregnancy by Lutricia Alford Jones, Ronnie Jones and Louis Shepherd; teen pregnancy and law by Morris Tatum and Rufus Smith; sexually transmitted diseases by Faye Gilliam and Torrance Alexander; and bullying and gangs by Natalie McKinley, Unricky Parks and Michael Winfield.
This is the 32nd year the local fraternity has presented the Teen Pregnancy Workshop to the West Georgia area. Parents and interested residents are invited to share and participate in the event. Opportunities will be provided for parents and others to ask questions.
