Santa Claus will be on Lafayette Square on Saturdays during December.

Ol’ Saint Nick will be downtown from 1 to 4 p.m., waiting to meet children and pose so parents can snap a Christmas picture with them. Santa will be greeting his visitors in a carriage at the square, or be in one of the shops downtown if the weather is too cold or it is raining. A sign will be posted at the carriage to tell his location on any bad weather day.

“Make plans with your family to spend a wonderful Saturday afternoon in historic downtown LaGrange this holiday season,” said Barbie Watts, director of the Downtown LaGrange Development Authority. “Grab a bite for lunch in one of our many downtown eateries, visit with Santa and enjoy selecting the perfect gift in any of downtown’s unique variety of shops.”

Carriage rides also are available downtown on weekends. The complimentary carriage rides are available through downtown on Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturdays 1 to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 4 p.m. Rides are free.

Both events are sponsored by downtown merchants. For more information, contact Watts at 706-298-4534 or barbiew@downtownlagrange.com.
