In a brief work session Thursday morning, West Point City Council was briefed on a resolution to abolish the Troup County Airport Authority.

Hogansville has voted to support the City of LaGrange and the Troup County Commission in ridding of the authority and to change it to an advisory board. The resolution will receive the final vote from West Point at the council meeting on Monday, before it receives approval from the state.

Also on Monday, newly elected councilman Steve Tramell will be sworn in to office and council is expected to appoint board and committee members.

The council meeting will start at 6p.m.

Councilwoman Sandra Thornton announced that Kia donated $10,000 to the City for the construction of more bus shelters. Kia had previously donated $10,000 in 2012 to go towards the building of bus shelters in the city that resulted in three new bus shelters.
