Services for the National Day of Prayer will be held May 1 at the Explorations in Antiquity Center, 130 Gordon Commercial Drive, from noon until 12:45 p.m.

Prayers will be lifted up for families, government, media, education and churches.

The theme for 2014 is “One Voice, United in Prayer,” emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities and men, organizers said.

To further highlight the theme, Romans 15:6 has been chosen as the Scripture for this year: “So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
