LaGRANGE — Residents in LaGrange and Troup County will have a chance to select a local charity that will receive $2,500 in free advertising through a program sponsored by Civitas Media LLC, owners of the LaGrange Daily News.

The giveaway, being called MyOwn® Community Service Partner Campaign, is being held in conjunction with the new community website – MyOwnLaGrange.com – that was launched by the The LaGrange Daily News.

“We’re proud to be part of the LaGrange community and this is one of the ways we want to show our gratitude,” said Michael Bush, chief executive officer of Civitas Media. “The $2,500 in free advertising will help a local charity deliver its message on-line or in print, however it chooses. The new website will bolster our already robust print and on-line products.”

Local residents will vote for the winning charity, said Marka Sonoga, business development manager of the The LaGrange Daily News.

The charities nominated were Keep Troup Beautiful and the Lafayette Society for Performing Arts.

The top vote-getter will win the free advertising. Articles will be published in the newspaper announcing the winner.

Voting will take place on MyOwnLaGrange.com from Aug. 16 thru Sept. 7. There will be one vote per person.

This website allows readers, schools, community organizations, local governments and others to post their favorite photographs, such as vacation or sports photos; share upcoming events, such as Scout meetings and bake sales; and even write your own blog.
