There are many things we can say about President Obama. Yes, we can say that he is a well-educated, polished president. Likewise, we can respect his oratorical abilities. I also believe he is a great husband, father, and son-in-law.
However, to put it mildly, he is a weak president. His decisions make this more obvious every day. In his dealings with President Assad of Syria, Mr. Obama made it clear that he would militarily engage Syria if Assad used chemical weapons on his people. Well, after Assad did just that, Obama did nothing.
I no longer take Obama’s words seriously. He talks the talk. But he never walks the walk. Nowhere is this more conspicuous than his dialogue with Vladimir Putin of Russia. To tell it like it is, Putin can and does dismiss Obama’s words as mere fiction. Putin has absolutely no respect for President Obama. Neither do the Europeans.
What I want most from a president is strength, not weakness. In studying the Civil War, I am thoroughly convinced that the South did not start this horrific war. Neither did the North. It was started by a strong president named Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln could not tolerate slavery. Even his wife, Mary Todd, could not change his mind. He is the main reason the South lost.
When the Russians decided to put strategic weapons in Cuba, a strong president, John Kennedy, told them he would not tolerate it. Kennedy threatened to have a nuclear war if the Russians did not capitulate. The Russians knew that Kennedy meant business. They yielded to his command.
Ronald Wilson Reagan, more than anyone else, singlehandedly defeated and destroyed the U.S.S.R. Why was he able to do this? He did it by being a strong president. Even Democrats must give credit to Reagan for his great achievement.
Another strong president and personality was Harry Truman. When he was serving as president, he bombed the Japanese into submission. Liberals criticize him for being aggressive. I respect Truman for his courage.
President Obama, in dealing with the Veterans Administration, has shown absolutely no leadership. He should have fired the executive there months ago.
When President Obama comes on television, I use my remote control to change the channel. I do not hate the president. Neither do I wish him harm. The sad truth is that I don’t respect him.
