Sheriff’s office to host firearms safety class
The Troup County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting its first civilian firearms safety course on Sept. 28 for the first 20 people to register.
The free four-hour basic course is designed for new or inexperienced gun owners 21 years of age or older, who would like to learn basic hand gun safety and shooting techniques and will be taught by a certified firearms instructor. Each participant is asked to bring their own handgun and at least 50 rounds of ammunition. Guns ranging from .22 to .45 caliber are acceptable and holsters are recommended.
Participants must preregister by Sept. 27th at noon and are required to fill out a criminal background check at the sheriff’s office located at 130 Sam Walker Drive.
The course will be held on September, 28th from 8 a.m. to noon at the sheriff’s office training facility.
Sheriff James Woodruff hopes to offer the training course several times during the year.
