The Troup Lady Tigers followed up their winning weekend in the Callaway Classic by getting a big region road win on Tuesday.
Facing home-standing Shaw in the final game of the first half of the Region 5-AAA schedule, the Lady Tigers rolled to a 6-1 victory.
Troup improved to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in region play heading into Thursday’s home showdown against Alexander, which is unbeaten in the region.
Troup won four of its five games in the Callaway Classic on Friday and Saturday, and that momentum carried over into Tuesday’s game.
Emily Green got the start and pitched seven solid innings, allowing just the one run with seven strikeouts.
Hayley Morris led the way at the plate with three hits, and Hanna Lane and Jordan Pike each went 2-for-4.
Kalah Mingo added a triple.
Troup begins the second half of the region schedule hoping to climb the ladder and earn a top-four finish, which would secure an invitation to the state playoffs.
Thursday’s challenge is a stiff one.
Alexander improved to 7-0 in the region with Tuesday’s win over Fayette County, and it beat Troup 15-1 earlier in the season.
