The LaGrange Academy boys’ soccer team is two victories away from a state championship.
The Warriors, who are competing in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association this season, will play in the semifinals of the state tournament today against Oak Mountain at 3 p.m.
If LaGrange Academy wins that game, it would play either Trinity or Peachtree on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the championship game.
The semifinal games, as well as the championship game, will be played at Trinity Christian in Opelika, Ala.
The Warriors bring a 7-4-1 record into the game, and they’re coming off a big 2-0 victory over Furtah Prep that wrapped up the runner-up spot in the region.
The win gave LaGrange Academy a first-round bye in the state tournament.
Senior Chase Wardlaw continued his stellar season with his 13th goal of the season, and Zach Callaghan added his 10th goal of the year.
“We have worked hard all season to get to this point,” LaGrange Academy coach Mike Petite said. “We are excited about being in the final four but we know that is not where we want to stop.”
The Warriors are led by seniors Zack Alsop, Wesley Reames, Evan Genova, Jamie Zubernis, Harman Reames and Wardlaw.
