The Callaway High softball team met its match on Wednesday in the semifinal round of the Region 4-AAA tournament in Carrollton.

Facing a Central-Carroll squad that has dominated the region this season, Callaway ended up on the short end of a 12-0 decision.

Central (23-3 overall) remained unbeaten against region opponents, and most of those games have been of the blowout variety.

“Central flat out hit the ball,” Callaway coach Nick Drescher said. “There’s a reason they’ve only lost a few games.”

Callaway will play Rockmart today for third place in the region.

Win or lose, Callaway has qualified for the state tournament.
