Cougars hang tough in loss

The Lafayette Christian School Cougars hung tough with Warhill Christian most of the way Thursday night, but they struggled to find the basket late in a 49-42 loss.

The game was tied 39-39 in the fourth quarter, but the Cougars were outscored 10-3 the rest of the way.

“We were getting great looks, they just weren’t falling,” Lafayette Christian head coach Rene Gomez said.

David Curry had a big night with 18 points, and he had a school-record eight steals.

Aaron Dixon added 11 points and three assists, and Sam Teel continued to dominate on the boards with 14 rebounds.

In the Cougars’ previous game against Harvester Christian, Teel had 19 rebounds.

In Thursday’s girls’ game, Lafayette Christian won 46-31 to get its first win of the year.

Morgan Douglass paced the Lady Cougars with 16 points and five assists.
