W.D. Mohammed, which put on a show in last year’s LaGrange Toyota Basketball Classic, will return for this year’s tournament that gets under way on Friday at LaGrange High.

W.D. Mohammed advanced to last year’s championship game before falling to Hillgrove.

With Hillgrove not back to defend its title, W.D. Mohammed is the top returning team from last year’s tournament.

W.D. Mohammed, a private school located in Atlanta, went on to enjoy a spectacular 2012-2013 season.

The Caliphs only lost three games all season, and one of those setbacks came in the quarterfinals of the Class A state tournament.

The host LaGrange Grangers won’t have to wait long to see how this year’s W.D. Mohammed team matches up against last year’s version.

In Friday’s final game, LaGrange and W.D. Mohammed will face off at 7:30 p.m.

The other tournament teams will be East Coweta, Rockdale County, Wayne County, Valley, Opelika and McIntosh.

There will be four games on Friday, four more games on Saturday, and four games on Monday.

The championship game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

The tournament gets under way on Friday at 3 p.m. with East Coweta taking on Rockdale County.

Wayne County and Valley will play at 4:30 p.m., with Opelika and McIntosh meeting at 6 p.m., and LaGrange and W.D. Mohammed tangle in the nightcap.

The games will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Monday.
